All day yesterday, people seemed to be talking about one thing: snow.
But where is it?
I heard we could get 1-3 inches.
I heard we could get 6-8.
I heard the wind could blow.
When I woke up this morning, the first thing I did was look at the weather on my phone. According to what I saw, it should have been snowing like the dickens. But it wasn’t.
In fact, the storm, which was supposed to have started at 3 a.m., hadn’t produced anything.
I checked again a few minutes ago — around 10 a.m. — and the same thing. Radar shows snow. My eyes gazing outside show me something completely different. These photos prove I’m not just seeing things.
When I came into work, my co-workers were almost disappointed. It’s not like any of us were looking forward to 6-8 inches of snow with a 20-25 mph wind.
But you prepare yourself mentally. I fully expected to wake up today and have to shovel out my car. I woke up early just for that reason. But when I looked outside, I hit the snooze and fell back asleep.
I almost compare today to a bad first date. You prepare yourself for what could lie ahead. But in the end, it’s just another disappointment. I’m not disappointed we didn’t get snow, just like I’m not all that disappointed when a first date doesn’t go well. But there is still that let down.
And while there will be more first dates — I hope anyway — on the horizon, I’m sure there will be other winter storms for us to get anxious for.
But for now, we’ll just wait and see what lies ahead.
