I look outside and it’s cold and raining. That rain has formed a nice layer of ice on my car. Even though we haven’t received the snow we thought we were, the weather is bad enough for me.
However, I received an e-mail from my uncle, Marlin, giving me an “unofficial” report from spring training. He is currently in Fort Meyers, Fla. watching the Twins.
They haven’t played any games yet, but they are beginning their work outs.
Here are some photos he sent:

Here is an excerpt from his e-mail:
Mauer has been working in full gear and also taking some reps at 1st base. At BP, he is still hitting into 4-3′s. I saw Zumaya pitch before arm issue and he could really pop the glove – probably overthrowing. Morneau was taking reps at first today and also BP – not hitting ball squarely yet. In Valencia’s BP, he hit seven consecutive home runs – he was dialed in today. Fun to see Guardado walking around – he is working with pitchers. Oliva is around, but haven’t seen Carew or Molitor yet. Still miss Harmon. Both Span and Revere did full workouts today, but nothing exciting in BP – Revere still has that big smile.
I don’t expect the Twins to be very good this year. If they don’t lose 100 games (or more), I’ll be very surprised.
Having said that, I can’t wait to go to games. I love baseball season. I love going to games.
Even though it’s dreary outside today, these pictures make me ready for spring.
