It seemed like only yesterday. In fact, it was a few months ago when the basketball season began.

I remember the first Minnesota West games were in the first of November, with the high school season opening not long after.

The local teams have travelled all over the state and have played a grueling schedule.

And today is the day every player has been dreaming. It’s the state tournament.

When kids are growing up, they dream of this moment. They dream about playing on the biggest stage, representing their school against the state’s best.

I know it’s special for the coaches, players, parents, fans and everyone in the communities.

And it all gets underway today.

The games won’t be on TV or streamed on the web. However, we will be providing updates of the games on our Facebook page.

Worthington begins the state tournament tonight at 6 p.m. against Perham. Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin opens Thursday at 1 p.m. and Southwest Christian plays after.

From a sports fans’ perspective, and from all of us at the Daily Globe, I want to wish all the local teams good luck!
