In no way am I complaining.
But I’m bored.
And it’s only 1 p.m.
With the way things work at the Daily Globe, I was awarded a day off today. (Yes, it’s kind of like winning the lottery)
Because I worked last weekend, I am allowed to take a day off during the week. I would have taken Friday off and had a four-day weekend (I feel like that’s what a normal person would have done), but instead I opted for today, Thursday.
My reasoning was simple. I’m playing in men’s league on Thursdays, so I leave a couple hours early from the office anyway. I figured this way, I could go to the course early and hit a few balls before my round.
Mother Nature had other ideas.
With the constant downpour that has been last night into this morning, golf league was cancelled.
So now what do I do?
I slept in. That was a welcome change.
I had been on the go the last few days with stories to cover all over this part of the state and into Iowa. On Saturday, I did my interview for my diversity story in Arnolds Park, Iowa. Monday I went to Redwood Falls for Southwest Conference golf, Tuesday I was in Pipestone for softball and Wednesday I went to Tyler for sub-section golf.
So 50 hours and more than 400 miles later, I needed to sleep in.
So I did just that.
But now what?
I’ve gone to get a haircut already — the hair I do have left was getting pretty long.
I think I’ll go and do some shopping later today. I don’t have much for groceries in my house and when I was showering this morning, I realized I was dangerously low on shampoo.
So that will kill some time.
I was hoping the theatre would be showing matinees today. But unfortunately, that’s not the case.
Maybe I’ll rent a movie. Or catch up on what I’ve recorded on my DVR. Or perhaps I’ll just sit
