Coming later this month: Positive Perspectives.
Each year, the Daily Globe puts together a special section to highlight the positive things going on in Worthington.
And it’s time for that again.
The section — actually, there will be two of them — will be in the paper on Friday, July 27. So this week the staff is working on stories for this section.
I won’t give away too many surprises, but it’s a pretty exciting section.
It wasn’t too tough to spot some positives Worthington has going on these days.
Shoot, all we have to do is step outside to see the construction on the new senior center.
Just down the street is a brand new fire hall, which is nearly completed.
Combine that with the new events center — which should break ground very soon — and Worthington is a growing community.
Having been in the sports side of things, I haven’t had to do much with this section before. But this year, I’m in the middle of it.
I have been assigned a story.
That story is about Minnesota West and its new athletic facility.
There are other stories in the works about the new building projects in the city. I believe there will be some sort of story about the school district.
I know I’m looking forward to the section. It’s a way for Worthington to brag a little bit.
It’s a chance to show off the things we are doing in the community.
Jay Milbrandt talked about some of the great things we’re doing in Worthington in his latest blog, and there has been some great discussion about whether Worthington is a great town.
I don’t know if the special section will answer that question, but I sure hope it helps point the needle toward a “Yes” a little bit more.
And, as always, if you know of something positive going on in the area, please let us know so we can let our readers know. It can be anything from someone who spends a lot of time volunteering or a person who took a mission trip. Just because we only publish a “Positive Perspective” section once a year doesn’t mean we don’t want positive stories the rest of the year.
