I was desperate.
I was looking for someone — anyone — who could help me out.
But, I struck out over and over again.
So I decided to just do it myself.
I bought a grill.
I love grilling. Or at least eating grilled food.
But I didn’t own one.
The closest thing I had was a George Foreman grill. And those are great, don’t get me wrong. But it’s not the same.
I talked with a couple of my friends, trying to see if they were doing anything on Monday night.
But alas, nothing came to fruition.
So, I went to Walt-mart to see what they had to offer.
What I found was perfect. It was a small grill that uses the small bottles of propane. It was rather inexpensive, so I bought it.
I got it home and opened the box and what I found was surprising.
I had to put it together.
Yep, a grill was assembly required.
So I spent a few — or 20 — minutes putting it together.
In anticipation of grilling, I had purchased a nice steak from W-2’s in Worthington. I put some seasoning on the steak and let it sit while I put my grill together.
Once it was together, I took it outside and started it up.
It started right away. Fortunately, and this was a real concern, it didn’t blow up in my face.
I threw on the piece of meat and started some green beans and potatoes inside.
About 30 minutes later, I had myself quite the meal.
It was possibly the best meal I have ever cooked on my own. And the best part is I had leftovers for the next day.
So now I have a grill, I can’t wait to put other things on it. I have a couple hot dogs in my fridge right now, they might be next. After that, perhaps some brats or burgers.
The possibilities are endless.
And that makes me excited.
